Abstract
Considering the daily stress of increased incidence of cardiovascular comorbidities, especially essential hypertension (EHTA) and type 2 diabetes (DM), with special clinical implications and the possibility of complications, and also taking into account the contraindications of spa treatments, and the need to apply some functional rehabilitation therapies, we have conducted an observational epidemiological study on the frequency of these conditions, on selected batches of patients in the Balneal and Rehabilitation Sanatorium of Techirghiol (BRST). The study was conducted prospectively on 1377 patients enrolled in BRST for specialised treatment, seeking to identify the most common associated conditions: EHTA and DM type 2 and at the same time to identify the presence of the two diseases in the same patient, by age category. The relationship of age, gender and background dependence was analysed in patients presenting as associated hypertension and type 2 diabetes. There is a direct correlation between EHTA and age (p < 0.001), respectively home environment (p = 0.035) and there is no direct correlation between EHTA and gender (p = 0.114). Also there is a direct correlation between type 2 DM and age (p < 0.001), respectively gender (p < 0.001); there is no direct correlation between the home environment and the presence of the type 2 DM (p = 0.302). There are significant correlations between certain demographic indicators and the most common comorbidities identified in patients in the EHTA and DM type 2 hospitals, which allows us to identify a pattern that can be compared with statistical data published in the literature.
