Abstract
The fatigue behavior of honeycomb sandwich panel, made of high temperature Ni-base alloy, was experimentally investigated through three-point bending tests at room temperature. Two kinds of specimens, the cell orientation (L and W), were tested. Effects of the cell orientation (1, and W) on the maximum load and on the damage processes were investigated. Fracture damage behavior and fatigue failure modes were reported and discussed. Two different fatigue failure mechanisms were found: specimen in the L-direction failure is an indented fracture and plastic deformations of the tensioned face, while specimen in the W-direction failure is a linear fracture and plastic deformations of the tensioned face.
