A diversity of themes and authors to mark Fourrages' 60th birthday

With this current issue (number 240), the journal Fourrages turns 60 and celebrates the 2,200 articles it has published over the last six decades. Fourrages disseminates knowledge while also giving a voice to stakeholders on the ground. Early on, its articles focused on the "forage revolution" (the intensive use of nitrogen fertilisers and improved crop varieties; 1960-1974). Then, the journal began publishing more research espousing a systems approach with greater attention paid to grazing and permanent grasslands (1975-1989). The emergence of environmental issues subsequently led Fourrages to explore the multiple functions of forage cover crops, often in multidisciplinary ways (1990-2004). More recently, ecological discoveries have informed research on the role of these crops in livestock systems, production systems, and regions with mixed land use, resulting in new perspectives (2005-2019).
