The Sphinx Factor and the Quest for Faith through T. S. Eliot's Poetic Realms

This paper re-examines the multiple connotations of the theoretical term of "the Sphinx factor" as elaborated by Professor Nie Zhenzhao, and presents it as a tenable point of reference for reinterpreting the ethical implications of T. S. Eliot's poems. Emphatically an attempt has been made to explore in Eliot's poetic realms the possible enhancement of the better half of the Sphinx factor, which might be able to transcend man's lower instincts, become committed to faith, and take moral actions.
