Abstract
The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) 2019 introduced a mandatory medical examination pre and post travel for all volunteers of the weltwarts" programme that spend 6-12 months time in subtropical and tropical countries. This new systematic examination is a significant achievement. The aim is to prevent foreseeable risky postings and to reduce disease burdens through prevention and early detection of diseases in the foreign country. Experiences of the first year after implementation will show whether adjustements are necessary. Forms for docters in Germany will be provided through websites of the DTG and DFR.
