Leishmanial CpG DNA nanovesicles: A propitious prophylactic approach against visceral leishmaniasis

Schematic illustration of study plan undertaken to evaluate prophylactic efficacy of novel TLR9 agonist recognized from L. donovani genome. Schizophyllan; a member of β-glucan family was used to deliver the recognized TLR9 agonist within the endosome of macrophages to stimulate TLR9 mediated innate immune activation by inducing MyD88 dependent inflammatory milieu. Synthesized SPGNPs were administered within Mesocricetus auratus in combinatorial approach with sLdP preceding challenge of hamsters with Dd8 strain of L. donovani parasite. Prophylactic efficacy of aforesaid immunization regime was evaluated after day 45 and 60 p.c. by assessing different disease associated markers.
