2,5 bis(2-thienyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole as corrosion inhibitor of mild steel in acidic media

A new corrosion inhibitor, namely, 2,5 bis(2-thienyl)-1,3,4- oxadiazole (2-TO) was tested for mild steel in both acids (1N HCl and 1N H2SO4) by weight loss, electrochemical polarization methods and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The adsorption of (2-TO) on the mild steel surface in both acid media follows a Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The effect of temperature indicated that the inhibition efficiency E(%) is temperature-independent in the range of 303-323 K in 1N HCl and in 1N H2SO4.
