Distribution of Orthomus lacouri (Antoine, 1941) populations (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Pterostichidae) in the Beni-Snassen Mountains (Eastern Morocco)

Study of the apical region of the genitalia of 196 male specimens of Orthomus lacouri from 40 of the 45 stations explored in the Beni-Snassen Mountains (Morocco) and surrounding area shows that the subspecies lacouri and haroldi on the one hand, and the subspecies kocheri and haroldi on the other, are parapatric. There is slight overlap between the populations, as witnessed by the presence of "cross-breeds". This raises the question of the true status of the taxa.
