A Hydroxyl-Containing Nitronyl Nitroxide Radical and its Dy (III) Complex: Structure and Magnetic Properties

A novel lanthanide-nitronyl nitroxide compound Dy (hfac)3(NIT-Ph-4-OH)2 (1) has been successfully synthesized by the reaction of NIT-Ph-4-OH with Dy (hfac)3. Single crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis reveals a mononuclear coordination of complex 1. The magnetic studies reveal that complex 1 shows very weak ferromagnetic interaction between Dy (III) ion and the coordinated nitronyl nitroxide.
