Abstract
ALBA is a third generation 3-GeV synchrotron radiation facility built near Barcelona servicing worldwide academic and industrial users since 2012. It currently hosts eight operating beamlines, including one dedicated to Macromolecular Crystallography (MX), BL13-XALOC. Current expansion plans of the facility include a specific microfocus MX beamline, BL06-XAIRA, now in design stage, which will complement the existing BL13-XALOC MX beamline The aim of XAIRA is to provide a stable, high-flux beam of 1 x 1 nm2 FWHM (3 x 1 nm2 full beam) at 1 A photon wavelength and reach keV in the low limit of the energy range. Here we present the current plans for the photon source and the optical design of the XAIRA beamline, as well as the some preliminary ideas on the end station.
