Analysis of the load bearing capacity of a connection detail for folded plate assemblies made of glass

A folded plate assembly is the ideal structure type for the planar building material glass. Therefore, the continuous linear connection between two adjacent elements is very important. At the Vienna University of Technology an experimental connection detail has been developed, which is presented in this paper. The load bearing capacity of this connection detail was determined using bending, tension, compression and shear tests. The results obtained were compared with the results from a finite element analysis.
