•Addition of natural oils in the formulation of endodontic sealers was proposed.•Addition of natural oils did not impair physicochemical properties of the sealers.•Phytotherapy products showed potential as antimicrobial endodontic sealers in vitro.•Experimental sealers with natural oils provided adequate cytocompatibility.
