摘要

•This study was performed on the two-lane rural highways of the Metropolitan City of Naples, Italy.•This study used safety performance functions (SPFs) for developing crash modification functions (CMFs).•Regarding pavement, CMFs were developed for Grip Number and International Roughness Index.•Regarding geometric design, CMFs were developed for CCR, CV(1/R), superelevation deficiency, and lane width.•Availability of CMFs for both pavement and geometric parameters is crucial to select safety countermeasures.
