•Waterborne AngII is related to a morpho-functional remodelling of the zebrafish heart.•Cardiac AT1 and AT2 receptors are up-regulated in AngII-exposed fish.•AngII treatment modulates the expression of foetal genes related to cardiac growth.•A zebrafish model of waterborne AngII-mediated cardiac remodelling is proposed.
