Abstract
•Intro-alveolar coagulation activation and fibrinolysis inhibition have pivotal role in ARDS pathogenesis. In this manuscript, we pretreated with a traditional Chinese herb for LPS-induced ARDS mice and we interestingly found that emoding significantly inhibited the NF-κB-mediated alveolar hypercoagulation and fibrinolytic inhibition as well as excessive pulmonary inflammation.•Our results demonstrated that emodin protected ARDS mice against LPS-induced lung injury, corrected alveolar hypercoagulation and fibrinolystic inhibition in a dose-dependent manner. And we found the mechanism through which emodin attenuated alveolar hypercoagulation and fibrinolystic inhibition of ARDS mice was to inhibit NF-κB activation.
