Abstract
The JOINBON Silicon Photomultiplier is a novel commercial silicon sensor for weak photon flux. In this paper we report a characterization of the sensor for the readout of LySO crystals with potential application to Positron Emission Tomography. We measured a energy resolution of approximately (13.50 +/- 0.03) % (FWHM) and a coincidence time resolution ranging between (215 +/- 3) ps for a 5mm long crystal up to (290 +/- 2) ps for a 20mm long crystal. Finally we tested the feasibility of the JOINBON SiPM to a Multi Voltage Threshold readout and we obtained a energy resolution compatible with the intrinsic system performance.
