Palaeoecological and palaeoenviromental reconstruction of the upper Miocene vertebrate karstic site of Corral de Lobato, central-eastern Spain

•Palaeoecological and palaeoenviromental reconstruction from a karstic fossil site.•Facies analysis shows the existence of a complex fluviolacustrine system in the area.•Isotopes indicate a mosaic landscape dominated by C3 trees, shrubs and grasses.•Carnivores’ isotopes point to partitioning of resources and habitats.•Corral de Lobato shows more arid conditions than other contemporary fossil sites.
