Response of egg parasitoids (Hymenoptera: Mymaridae and Trichogrammatidae) to the density of Dalbulus maidis (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) eggs in maize habitats

•Egg parasitoid communities exist in seasonal and year-round maize agroecosystems.•At high egg density, a host/parasitoid inverse relationship exists in seasonal maize.•At high or low egg density in year-round maize, an independent relationship prevails.
