Textures and geochemistry of magnetite: indications for genesis of the Late Paleozoic Laoshankou Fe-Cu-Au deposit, NW China

•Six magnetite types in three ore rock types are divided in the Laoshankou deposit.•Different magnetite shows variable element concentrations.•Changes from high-Ti hydrothermal magnetite to low-Ti hydrothermal magnetite are identified.•Magnetite of Laoshankou shows similar geochemical characteristics to that of IOCG deposits.
