摘要
Sexual dysfunction (SD) is usually the domain of either mental health professionals or urologists. As patients attending dermatovenereology departments also complain about this problem we started a multidisciplinary clinic along with a psychiatrist and urologist to provide holistic care to patients. This study highlights our preliminary experience. A retrospective study was conducted by reviewing records of male patients attending a sexual dysfunction clinic of a tertiary care hospital from February 2017 to December 2017 after ethical committee clearance . The SD clinic comprised of a dermatologist, urologist and psychiatrist. There were a total of 172 patients. Majority (35%) were married men aged between 41 and 50 years. Personal and partner distress due to SD was reported in 90 (52%) and 59 (34%) respectively. Systemic diseases were seen in 87 (51%) leading being diabetes mellitus in 32 (19 %). Work related stress was seen in 32 (19%) and marital or other relationship problems in 7 (4%). Feelings of guilt and excessive concern over sexual performance were reported by 25 (15%) and 71(41%) patients respectively. Feelings of sadness and anxiety were reported by 59(34%) and 36 (21%) patients respectively. Majority i.e 96 (56%) had normal BMI, 54 (31%) were overweight and 17(10%) obese. History of smoking was obtained in 21 (12%) and alcohol consumption in 82 (48%). The final diagnosis was erectile dysfunction(ED) in 60 patients (35%), premature ejaculation(PE) in 42 (24%), ED with PE in 51(30%), sexual misconception in 4 (2%) and variable in 10 (6%). Sexual dysfunction was ruled out in 5 (3%) of the patients. 18 (10%) needed urology interventions.
