Abstract
The aim of this study was to assess the impact on SF of PFMT with biofeedback in women with mild or moderate stress urinary incontinence (SUI). A prospective cohort study including 110 women with mild or moderate SUI, who received PFMTduring 3 months based on daily exercises, weekly supervised with biofeedback. Patients completed questionnaires at baseline and after PFMT to assess UI and sexual activity and function: International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form (ICIQ-UI-SF), Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and Prolapse Urinary Incontinence Sexual Function Questionnaire- IUGA Revised (PISQ-IR). Patients were informed about the role of PFM function for SUI and sexual response, without specific sex therapy during the training period. The mean baseline ICIQ-IU-SF (SD) and Oxford were 10.7 (1.9) and 2, respectively, and 5.3 (3.3) and 3 after PFMT. Baseline, 104 women were sexually active (SA) and 6 non-SA. 92.7% accepted to assess their sexuality (all heterosexual, 90% with a partner). By asking directly about the global perception of their sexuality; 70.6% reported it was good. 18 women (17.8%) referred SUI during sexual activity. However, 66,6% among them reported they avoid "little or not at all” their sexuality as a consequence of SUI. A statistically significant difference was observed in FSFI Desire domain, (Table 1) and in PISQ-IR arousal-orgasm subscale (Table 2). Moreover, SA women with dyspareunia "always, often” were significantly reduced after PFMT (7.4% baseline vs 3.5% afterPFMT, p < 0.05). We also observed an increasing rate of women who reported they never have dyspareunia (baseline 31.9% vs 50.6% after PFMT, p < 0.05).
