摘要
Objective To evaluate the cytotoxicity of procyanidins for acellular porcine aortic valve. Methods L929 cells were cultured with the extracts obtainted from acellular porcine aortic valve treated with procyanidins. The relative growth rate of L929 cells cultured with 100%,50% and 25% extracts was measured by methyl thiazol tetrazolium (MTT).L929 cells were cultured directly with acellular porcine aortic valve treated with procyanidins. The cell morphology was observed, and the cell number was counted. The morphology of L929 cells cultured on the surface of acellular porcine aortic valve treated with procyanidins was observed under the scanning electron microscopy (SEM).Results The relative growth rate in groups of 100%,50% and 25% extracts was between 87.5%-111.5%,and there was significant difference between groups of extracts and control group (P <0.01 ).The property of acellular porcine aortic valve treated with procyanidins was stable and the toxic levels ranged from grade 0 to 1.There were no signs of cytotoxicity induced by acellular porcine aortic valve treated with procyanidins, and the cell morphology was normal. Conclusion Acellular porcine aortic valve treated with procyanidins has good cytocompatibility in vitro.\r\n\r\nKey words: \r\nProcyanidins;  Acellular porcine aortic valve;  Biomaterial;  Cytotoxity
