Abstract
In order to realize long-term continuous observation and monitoring of interested objects in a wide range, this paper proposed a framework of aerial observation and tracking system based on a tethered balloon, which is a novel aerial platform. Firstly, the key elements of balloon borne observation system, including the image sensor, stabilized turntable, measurement and control link unit and the ground control terminal were decomposed and analysed sequently. Then design schemes of the measurement and control link, stability control means, line of sight stability method and image tracking strategy were put forward which are key strategies adopted in steady tracking turntable; system design and integration were carried out and the stability of the turntable was tested to be 0.5mrad using metrology platform. Finally, target observation and tracking experiments were carried out inland, near the sea as well as on the ship. These experimental results showed that the system fully meet the design requirements of the research on long-term continuous observation and monitoring. Furthermore, the tethered balloon-borne observation and monitoring mission system lifting from research vessel is a successful and discovering breakthrough. It provides a beneficial technical reference for the observation and tracking system in the new sea application field of the aerostat system.
