Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of AcrySOF ReSTOR multifocal intraocular lens (MIOL). Methods Eleven patients ( 15 eyes) with age related cataract underwent the AcrySof ReSTOR MIOL implantation after phacoemulsification cataract extraction. Uncorrected distance visual acuity (UCDVA), best-corrected distance visual acuity (BCDVA), uncorrected near visual acuity (UCNVA), best-corrected near visual acuity (BCNVA), corneal astigmatism and IOL place were measured. The questionnaire of visual symptom and the rate of spectacle independence were observed. Results The UCDVA and BCDVA of 0.6 or better were achieved in 73% eyes and 93% eyes. The UCNVA and BCNVA of Jr3 (0.5) or better were achieved in 67% eyes and 80% eyes. About 73% patients never had to wear glasses. Some cases of visual acuity were affected by astigmatism of surgical incision. Conclusion The AcrySof ReSTOR MIOL can provide cataract patients with a full range of quality visionnear, intermediate, and distance, so as to improve the quality of life af- ter surgery, but the high surgical technique and meticulous calculation of IOL power are the key point to obtain excellent visual acuity.\r\n\r\nKey words: \r\nCataract;  Multifocal intraocular;  lens
