THE EFFICAY OF ELOBIXIBAT AS AN INHIBITOR OF ILEAL BILE ACID TRANSPORTER FOR CHRONIC CONSTIPATION -A MULTICENTER COHORT STUDY-

consent.FC and IBS-C/M were diagnosed using the Rome IV criteria.Results: Completed bowel habit questionnaires were collected from 10,658 participants, whom 220 (2.1%) were diagnosed with FC and 26 (0.2%) with IBS-C/M.The most common average stool frequency in the FC group was less than 3 days (34.7%) and in the IBS-C/M group was once in 2 days (38.5%).The most common stool property as assessed by Bristol Stool Form Scale in the FC group was type I (31.4%), and that in the IBS-C/M group was type III (34.6%).Among individuals in their 30s to 50s, the proportion of women was significantly higher in both groups, but there were no sex differences among participants aged 60 or older.On multivariate analysis, the risk of FC was significantly lower among men (odds ratio [OR], 0.3; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.2-0.4), and among those who drank alcohol more than 5 days a week (OR, 0.6; 95% CI, 0.4-0.9,slept more than 6 h a day (OR, 0.7; 95% CI, 0.5-0.9),or exercised more than 30 min at least twice a week (OR, 0.6; 95% CI, 0.4-0.8).In contrast, the risk of FC was significantly higher among individuals with anemia (OR, 1.6; 95% CI, 1.2-2.1),dyslipidemia (OR, 1.9; 95% CI, 1.3-2.7), a history of colorectal polyps (OR, 2.1; 95% CI, 1.3-3.2),or use of anxiolytics and sleeping pills (OR, 2.3; 95% CI, 1.2-4.4).Anemia (OR, 3.3; 95% CI, 1.4-7.7)and a history of cerebral infarction (OR, 5.8; 95% CI, 1.3-26.2) were significantly associated with IBS-C/M.Conclusion: The prevalence of FC and IBS-C/M was 2.1% and 0.2%, respectively.Sex, drinking habits, sleep, exercise, anemia, dyslipidemia, a history of colorectal polyps, and use of anxiolytics and sleeping pills were significantly associated with FC.Anemia and a history of cerebral infarction were significantly associated with IBS-C/M.Attention should be paid to these factors advising individuals with FC or IBS-C/M.
