Abstract
elevated VMRs at every distension pressure.Treatment with Resolvin D2 resulted in a significant amelioration of visceral hypersensitivity in the Resolvin D2 vs vehicle-treated post-colitis rats (fig.2A).Control animals treated with Resolvin D2 displayed VMRs similar to vehicle-treated controls. No differences in colonic compliance were observed between the different groups (fig.2B).Treatment with Resolvin D2 did not affect the post-mortem inflammatory parameters. Conclusions: Our results confirm the beneficial effects of Resolvin D2 on visceral hypersensitivity in vivo, using a post-inflammatory rat model. Thus, Resolvin D2 might represent an interesting novel compound for the treatment of abdominal pain in IBS patients.
