Measuring Compassionate Care among Interprofessional Health Care Teams: Developing and Testing the Feasibility of a Collaborative Behaviors Observational Assessment Tool

•Interprofessional tools to observe and measure compassionate care can be developed through participatory qualitative research processes.•Simulation settings are ideal for interprofessional development and testing of tools that are used to measure compassionate care.•An observational assessment tool, which was developed to rate collaborative and compassionate care behaviors during a high-stress simulation, is feasible for use by health care educators and providers.
