摘要

•Triplet excited states of N-phenyl-carbazoles were studied by laser flash photolysis.•Transient absorption spectra of a 3−3´dicarbazol are presented for the first time.•Unexpected twisted conformation of the dicarbazol was observed in micellar media.•The compounds showed high efficiencies of singlet oxygen generation.•These results are promissory for sensing, sensitizing and pharmacological applications.
