The flipped classroom (FC) is an adult-centered learning strategy where educational materials are independently reviewed prior to case-based group discussion. FC is designed to engage higher level thinking skills, such as application and analysis, that are often not employed in traditional didactics (TD). FC is well-accepted and improves knowledge retention, but is not commonly used in graduate medical education.
