Behcet's disease with inaugural venous thrombosis in a 13-year-old boy.

A case of Behcet's disease in a 13-year-old boy with venous thrombosis as the inaugural manifestation is reported. The diagnosis was based on presence of skin lesions, arthritis, and recurrent oral aphthous ulcerations. A Doppler ultrasound study demonstrated thrombosis of the superficial and common left femoral veins, providing a further example of the possible vascular complications of Behcet's disease and highlighting the uncertainties regarding the pathogenesis of this condition.
