A new 2D silver(I) inorganic-organic hybrid constructed from in situ decarboxylation reaction: Synthesis, structure and properties

•A new 2D silver(I) inorganic-organic hybrid has been synthesised.•The organic ligand is formed through hydrothermal in situ decarboxylation reaction.•The hybrid exhibits photocatalytic activity in the degradation of RhB under UV irradiation.•The hybrid possesses antibacterial activity towards both E. coli and S. aureus.•The hybrid shows good thermal stability and fluorescent property.
