Biological activities and phytochemical content of the rhizome hairs of Cibotium barometz (Cibotiaceae)

•The rhizome hairs contained phytosterols, triterpenoids and polyphenols.•The ethyl acetate extract showed the highest antioxidant activity.•The ethyl acetate extract showed the strongest inhibitory activity against fungi.•Unbranched alkenes and long-chain primary alcohols were present in the ethyl acetate extract.
