Proliferative Verrucous Leukoplakia: Review of an Evolving Entity

Proliferative verrucous leukoplakia is a rare and distinct variant of oral leukoplakia. The diagnosis of this entity is predicated on a temporal constellation of clinical features and histopathologic findings. In this review, we provide an overview of what is understood about this potentially malignant disorder. The pertinent clinical aspects, natural history of the disorder, the histopathologic findings, and current molecular findings of the disorder are presented.
