•.The effects of three biogenic amines on the immunity of hemocytes in vitro was DA > NE > 5-HT.•2 DA and NE might regulate phagocytosis by activating intracellular AC-cAMP-PKA pathway.•3 5-HT might regulate phagocytosis by inhibiting intracellular AC-cAMP-PKA pathway.•The activation of proPO system might be related to PLC-DAG-PKC and PLC-CaM pathways.
