摘要
In this paper, an approach has been proposed for imparting education for an undergraduate-level engineering course on database management system (DBMS) to pre-final students of the bachelor's degree program in computer engineering at self-aided engineering institute utilizing a novel instruction delivering model. Our approach depends on exploratory-engaging philosophy comprising of flipping classroom, open-ended problem-based collaborative learning and its peer assessment leading to implementation of real-time online projects. Our inspiration was to make students proficient in DBMSs using an active learning strategy so that engagement and collaboration with the instructor and learners can be increased in the class while instructing both technical and managerial skills met in real-world scenario along with a balance between theory and practices. In this paper, we have presented our approach and challenges encountered and recommendations associated with the same. It has been found that if appropriately arranged and executed, collaborative learning strategies can help learners in achieving the learning outcomes of the course.
