Abstract

This paper focuses on the basic principles and concepts of modern optimization techniques (MOT) (Genetic Algorithm, Ant Colony Optimization, Tabu Search and Particle Swarm Optimization) and their applications in several research fields through comparison analysis demonstrating the advantages and disadvantages of the modern optimization techniques. Finally, some future research directions about MOT are proposed.
