A Centripetal Knuckle Bearing Type Selection and Check CAD System Development Based on VBA and AutoCAD

To solve knuckle bearing type selection problem in engineering design, based on AutoCAD and parametric design method, VBA and Access are utilized to develop a centripetal knuckle bearing type selection and check CAD system that accords with national standards and a common centripetal knuckle bearing type selection flow. The system interface established with VBA is easy to use and accords with engineering personnel's habits. According to the newest Machinery Design Handbook and Bearing Manual, Access databases of various series of knuckle bearings are established and AutoCAD is connected with Access using ADO to call the data in the Access databases from AutoCAD platform. According to the retrieval results from the Access databases and the centripetal knuckle bearing type selection and check flow, a designer is guided to accomplish the type selection and life check of a knuckle bearing and call a parametric drawing module to complete its detail drawing. The developed CAD system can help the designer improve design efficiency and quality. The approach can be a reference for the development of other more general or special rolling bearing CAD systems.
