摘要
Rationale: Uncovering the molecular mechanisms involved in epileptogenesis is critical to understanding the physiopathology of epilepsies. For that, an approach that has been widely used is the analysis of differential gene expression in the affected tissue. However, in these studies, an appropriate normalization strategy is required for the correction of experimental variations. The impact of using an unstable internal control can lead to inaccurate results and erroneous conclusions. Recently, differential gene expression has been directed to investigate the association of microRNAs (miRs) in epileptogenesis. However, to the best of our knowledge, there are no reported studies that investigated suitable reference genes for the normalization of miR expression during epileptogenesis. In the present study, we investigated five potential reference genes (U6SnRNA, SnoRNA, Y1, 4.5(S)1, and 4.5(S)5) in the pilocarpine (PILO) model of mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE).
