Abstract
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photovoltaic device capable of improving solar cell efficiency limit in a solar cell sensitized by colloidal quantum dots.SOLUTION: When at least one side of the junction between the light absorbing layer and the electron accepting layer is not irradiated with sunlight, a photovoltaic cell is formed by selecting the composition of the light absorbing layer and the electron accepting layer so as to substantially deplete charge carriers, i.e., free electrons and free holes. In addition, the light absorbing layer includes double shell passivated quantum dots. Each quantum dot includes a quantum dot core having surface anions, an inner shell containing cations for passivating anions on the core surface, and an outer shell containing cations for passivating the anion of the inner shell and the anion of the core surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
