Electrical resistivity of solid and liquid Pt: Insight into electrical resistivity of ε-Fe

•Measurement of electrical resistivity of solid and liquid Pt under high P.•The linear T-dependence of Pt resistivity suggests that ε-Fe trend could be linear.•The resistivity of liquid Pt along its melting curve is constant.•Earth's core thermal conductivity may not be as high as initially suggested.•ICB conductivity at the solid and liquid side could be dissimilar in values.
