Treatment of ulcers of the lower limbs with a mixture of vegetable extracts based diosmin, centella asiatica, vitis vinifera, ruscus aculeatus and bromelain: observational and therapeutic study s.o.v.e.t.o. (observational study with vegetable extract on treatment of venous ulcer)

BACKGROUND: Objective of the study was to evaluate, for the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency ulcers, the association of a phytotherapy product and elastic compression. METHODS: in this regard, we were evaluated 30 patients with a mean age of 68 years, divided in 2 groups, group A and group B. The first group was treated with elasto compression technique, while the second group was treated with elastic compression associated with the use of Flebomix 1000 (Diosmina, Centella asiatica, Vitis vinifera, Ruscus aculeatus, Bromelain). the groups were evaluated for 30 days and the dressings were changed every 2 days. the following parameters are evaluated: ulcer size, depth, amount of exudate and edema size. RESULTS: The results led to a significant improvement of the four parameters studied, for those who have the elastic compression associated with Flebomix 1000. the product was well accepted by patients, failing to no side effects. CONCLUSIONS: Despite the proven efficacy from the association of Flebomix 1000 and elastic compression, the overall assessment of its efficacy must take place, however, within a therapeutic behavior and uniform care. We are still needed further clinical studies projected over a longer time period, requiring comparisons with other medications, in compliance with the guidelines.
