Abstract
Introduction: Artificial underground salt-mine environment with speleotherapeutic/halotherapeutic factors were created in "Speleotherapy (Halotherapy) Chamber" (SHTC), which possibility to be activated in dependence on the patients pathology. This original model original, represents medical complex with halotherapy chamber based on previous results of multidisciplinary underground salt-mine environment studies, as well as of some halotherapy experiments. Aim: Evaluating the therapeutic effect of built SHTC with specific salt environment and organizational management of halotherapy cure of patients with chronic respiratory pathology. Material and Methods: SHTC with artificial salt-mine environment, built in the National Institute of Rehabilitation, Physical Medicine and Balneoclimatology, Bucharest. Multidisciplinary were investigated 22 patients with bronchial asthma and other chronic respiratory pathologies. The HT was applied on 15 patients (predominantly including patients with bronchial asthma but also with allergic rhinitis, chronic bronchitis and other disease). Results: The clinical adaptation of patients with bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive bronchopneumopathy to the conditions of the SHTC was found after 5-10 days of HT procedures, depending on the pathology and its severity. There was evidence of slow and rare irritable cough, coughing - with viscous expectoration, and adaptation to physical stress. After 15 days of HT-specific procedures, about 2/3 of patients with bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, obstructive chronic bronchopneumopathy, was found with a positive evolution of the disease.
