•Three fibrinolytic responses to liver transplant occur; Hypofibrinolysis, Early Fibrinolysis Shutdown (e-SD) and Delayed Shutdown (d-SD)..•Delayed correction of hyperfibrinolysis (d-SD) hold an 8-fold risk of early allograft function compared to early correction (e-SD).•Hypofibrinolysis (lack of fibrinolytic activation) is also associated with an increased rate of early allograft dysfunction (EAD).
