Activation of peroxymonosulfate and recycled effluent filtration over cathode membrane CNFs-CoFe2O4/PVDF in a photocatalytic fuel cell for water pollution control

•A CNFs-CoFe2O4/PVDF catalytic membrane was synthesized by phase inversion method.•A PFC integrating PMS activation with CNFs-CoFe2O4/PM cathode was designed.•The PMS/PFC-MR shows favorable degradation performance with electricity production.•The PMS/PFC-MR performance is further enhanced under membrane filtration mode.•The Co(II)/PMS oxidation with filtration and photo-electrocatalysis are achieved.
