•Serum levels of YKL-40, IL-6 and TNF-α were increased in pSS patients.•YKL-40, IL-6 and TNF-α were mainly involved in systemic inflammation of pSS.•Each of YKL-40, IL-6 and TNF-α had separate association with distinct pSS phenotype.
