Dynamics of the antibiotic resistome in agricultural soils amended with different sources of animal manures over three consecutive years.

•The application of animal manures significantly increased the abundance and diversity of ARGs.•Composted pig, chicken and cattle manures had similar influence on the level of soil ARGs.•Repeated manure addition led to the enrichment and accumulation of ARGs in soil over time.•Bacterial population and MGEs were the major drivers for shaping the antibiotic resistome in soil.
