Changes in expression of Kv7.5 and Kv7.2 channels in dorsal root ganglion neurons in the streptozotocin rat model of painful diabetic neuropathy

•Expression of Kv7.5 and Kv7.2 was examined in DRG neurons in normal and STZ rats.•Kv7.5 expression is downregulated in small/medium DRG neurons in STZ rats.•Kv7.2 expression is upregulated in small DRG neurons in STZ rats.•The findings implicate Kv7 channels in mechanisms of diabetic neuropathy.
