Evaluation of cavitation/corrosion synergy of the Cr 3 C 2 -25NiCr coating deposited by HVOF process.

•Cavitation, corrosion resistance and their synergism of the Cr3C2 25NiCr coating was examined.•The cavitation reduce the corrosion potential and increase the corrosion current of the Cr3C2 25NiCr coating.•Cavitation influences the corrosion kinetics, however the opposite was not observed on the Cr3C2 25NiCr coating.•Cavitation test in 3.5% NaCl solution promote a rougher worn surface on Cr3C2 25NiCr coating.
