Abstract
The possibility of increasing the efficiency and quality of the gasostat-free impregnation of porous graphitized carbon materials with copper alloys by galvanic deposition of thin metallic alloying coatings on the surface of a graphitized carbon sample is studied. An electrodeposited coating made of high-purity copper (up to 99.9% Cu) in combination with other metals, which is preliminarily deposited onto the surface of a porous graphitized carbon base, is shown to significantly increase the filling of pores with a matrix melt and to a decrease the impregnation temperature from 1250 to 800°C. This finding makes it possible to use low-temperature furnace equipment and simple technological equipment and to produce high-quality composite materials.
