En Pointe: Dancers Report Their Pain Less Variably Than Do Controls

•Dancers demonstrate improved interoception as compared with the general population.•We compared variability of pain and taste reports in dancers and controls.•Dancers demonstrated less variability of pain, but not of taste, intensity reports.•The longer a dancer was trained, the less pain variability was observed.•Training could reduce pain variability, and potentially improve its assessment.
